About Dabble
We didn't build Dabble to entertain your kids.
We built it so your kids could entertain themselves.
Dabble is a drawing app for toddlers aged 2–4, made for iPad. It has twelve markers, one slider for thickness, a light canvas and a dark one. That is the whole app, and keeping it that small took more work than adding things would have.
Most "kids' apps" are built to keep children watching: loud noises, flashing lights, a reward for every tap. Dabble takes a step back. It tries to be the digital version of a fresh stack of paper and a new set of markers: a clean, quiet space where the only thing that happens is what your child makes happen.
Drawing with light
The idea that made Dabble worth building was the dark canvas. Flip it to black and the markers glow like neon. It is calmer before bed, it doesn't light up the back seat on a night drive, and it is the reason toddlers who have "done" drawing on paper want to keep going on the iPad.
Little hands, deliberate controls
Toddlers tap everything. So the menu that leaves the canvas needs a two-second hold with a ring that fills as you press, and sharing, buying and every outside link sit behind a parent gate. Your child gets the canvas. You get the settings.
What Dabble deliberately leaves out
-
Ads and pop-ups
Nothing interrupts the drawing and nothing is sold to a two-year-old.
-
Stickers, stamps and fill buckets
Marks a child makes mean more to them than marks a button makes.
-
Rewards, levels and streaks
The drawing is the reward. No confetti for opening the app.
-
Sound effects and music
Quiet is a feature, especially at bedtime and on planes.
-
Accounts, logins and the cloud
Drawings stay on the iPad. There is nothing to sign up for.
-
Analytics and tracking
We don't know how often your child draws, and we like it that way.
